Hi There! Although I never actually went to Winston Churchill CI, most of the kids I grew up with did! Like - Kathleen Townsend (still best of friends); Lois Tennyson; Linda Keyes; Paul Harris (who I was madly in love with at age 12 - boy can he throw a mean snowball!); Doug McKane; Brian Murphy; Heather, Valerie & Julia Birt; Jill Chambers; Calvin Tarr and Mike Kelly to name but a few. I lived at 27 Lillian Dr. until 1966 (gr.8 at Buchanan PS) when I moved to Madoc Ontario. I went to Centre Hastings Secondary School for Grades 9 and 10 then moved back to Scarboro in the Summer of 1968 and went to Woburn CI.
College
Wellll....I didn't really go to college, but did take some college and university night school and correspondence courses over the years at Centennial College and Laurentian University. So no use dawdling over this section cause I guess you could say I'm a "graduate" of the College of Life Experiences!
Workplace
"Jill of All Trades" would be a good title for me! I've seen a lot, done a lot, been there and got waaaaayyyyy too many T-Shirts!
I've been a Cashier at Canadian Tire for $1.25/hr when I first left school; Sales Clerk at Simpsons Fairview Mall; worked a few years at CIBC's Head off...Expand for more
ice; Secretary at U of T; Receptionist at Ciba-Geigy; Editorial Asst for TV Newsroom; Secretary & Research Asst for Research Dept of the Leader of the Opposition at Queen's Park; freelance secretary & clerical; legal secretary and freelance "legal beagle"; political campaigns (even been a Campaign Manager!!); Media Relations; Public Relations; Promotions; Event Planning; People Advocate & Social/Community Issues Activist; Union Organizer assistant; and of course just have to mention Genealogist and Researcher and now SOHO business owner and freelance consultant.
I've actually had my business since 1979 when I first got into Genealogy. I then gradually added my expertise and skills and put them all together, formally registering Research,Etc. in 1998 as an Ontario Sole Proprietorship - hence the "Etc" in Research, Etc.!!
And now I haved added to my roster, Virtual Assistant and Creative Memories Independent Consultant (LOL ask me!!)
See what I mean?? "Jill of All Trades", right!?! And amongst all that, I can honestly say the best job I've had was being a Mom to my two stepkids and my own daughter! No handshake, nor promotion, nor raise can beat the laughter, hugs and wet, sloppy, peanut butter kisses from a child!!
