Nancy's Story
After graduating I married, had four children, finished college, taught english and Drama at Pleasant Hill HS for four years, traveled to and lived in northern Ontario Canada for a year. The kids went to school there and I had a year's sabbatical. Returned for 7 years as a Head Start Director in Washington County Oregon, completed my Master's Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis on community-based organizations. completed a couple of interim directorships, accidently became the ED at Children's Club in SE Portland, which led to many contacts in the SE Community and the City. ir Neighborhood Plan while working with the Belmont Business Assn. (now BABA) on adding members, communication with the businesses and assisting with their Street Fairs.
These two led to working with the Division Street Merchant's Assn. (now D/CBA) and the Hawthorne Blvd. Business Assn. (HBBA), Foster Area BA, 82nd Ave. BA, Lloyd District Community Assn., the Alliance of Portland Area Business Assn's (now Venture Portland) and the East Portland Chamber of Commerce.
I have now ramped down, moved the office back home, serve on a couple of Boards and a couple of Advisory Committees and continue to staff HBBA and coordinate their Annual Street Fair held in August.
Looking forward to more traveling soon - maybe through a new endeavor I'm working on!
