Nanette's Story
I came to CA. in 1964 as an Air Force dependent aka "Air Force Brat" Live in March Air Force Base off base housing know as Arnold Heights until February 1967. My parents bought a house in the city of Riverside. I went to Alcott elementary school for a few months - promoted to the 7th grade and went to University Junior High School. First year was difficult but I made it through. 8th grade year was the best!! Had to change schools again and went to Gage my 9th grade year. UGH! My French teacher hated me and so did the kids from Casa Blanca. I survived with my small intimate group of friends( Denise,Tony, Susan et al) but it gave an intro of some of my future high school classmates and friends(Janine, Joan, Sue & Dana) POLY was awsome!!! I socialized and truly enjoyed my high school life. Sophmore year I was the Social Chairperson and a part of a trio - Mary/Mondo/Nanette. Senior year I was Class VP to Prez Tony B. My best friend for life, Verna Liles and I did almost everything together. Jester club and drama folks created a unique bond to this day. It was not perfect but lots of fun...did not do much studying(later to regret that decision). RCC instead of USC then onto CSUN - BA and CSUSB for my MA.
Life
Left Riverside for a few years to go to college and have been back every since.
Lived in a few apts. before I moved back home for an extended maternity leave. Then my father died and stayed to keep mom company.
I love Riverside but it is becoming too crowded.
I would love to obtain a Ph.D in education but I am not sure where - any sugge...Expand for more
stions?
I'm blessed with a child and have avoid marriage by saying "No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, yes -0ops, this is not working, No, No, No, No, No".
Looking for a new job - it's crazy trying to find a new career.
4/29/07 - I am still umemployed but I am enjoying not having to commute in SoCals so call "freeways".
6/12/2018 W😮W! I need to update this more often. I never found that new career path but I have one that came about because of the two years I cared for my mother before she had died. Friends ask me to watch their elderly parents at night (I am nocturnal by nature) to assure if an emergency happened I could be there. I have been blessed to know these Seniors who were able to stay in their homes until it was medically necessary to move into a care facility. I still think of obtaining my Ph.d but my brain is doing the reversal these days even though I have been reading and editing papers for a few college students - especially my collegiate who just graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS in Applied Mathematics. I am still very single (😇😘😘😘) but well loved - long distance which is 90% great by me - keeps me out of trouble too 😂. My brother, Stan Mitchell ,Poly Class of ‘74 is less than 10 minutes away and comes by our home often. If you want to know more my Fb is my Friends connection spot. There is a Riverside Poly Class of ‘73 page too that classmates are welcomed to easier to connect with me. I am also 3 years older than that birthday picture in my profile. I will try to find a decent picture for this year.
