Neil's Story
Growing up on Maple Place, I learned to skate as most of us did, at an early age. My best memories of skating on the lake, Which is now the very lovely Spring Lake, was "THE WHIP".
We would all line up, hold hands, and begin to skate in a very wide circle. At the very core of this, was usually a guy who was older and stronge...Expand for more
r than us all. Once we built up speed (and we were all skating our asses off), he would pivot and put all his might into stopping "THE WHIP".
The idea was to hold on for dear life, but at that point the laughter and screaming was as loud as those who just were watching.
