CLASS OF 1974

Nelly's Story

Hello, Ann Marie Donovan called me tonight while at work. She told me everyone was asking 'Where am I'? Well, I am right here. Where have all of you been? Seriously, I left high school and my life turned out to be busy, busy, busy !!! Went to City College at CUNY then SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine (now that was an experience). In college, I began raising the first of four children. Went through a marriage / divorce and wound up with four great kids - who are now all great adults and OFF MY BUDGET (that has become my favorite phrase). In Medical School joined the Army - became a Captain. Thought for a fleeting moment of making it a career. But was honorably discharged. It was a great experience. After Buffalo, returned to my community to do my residency in Pediatric...Expand for more
s then a fellowship in Adolescent / Young Adult Medicine. I have been here at St. Luke's / Roosevelt Hospital Center for almost 25 years. I am the Director of our Pediatric Hospitalist Program, oversee the Pediatric Inpatient Floor, and Medical Director of School Based Health Program. I have started my own business to see if I can retire a lot sooner than Uncle Sam would like me to. That's my bio - I have had a great life so far - full of it's ups and downs. I have been priviledged to care for so many children and their parents. It has been an incredible journey that I would do all over again. Okay, maybe next time around less downs - more ups. Would love to hear from the 1974 Graduating Class of Mother Cabrini High School - let me know how you are and if I can be of service.
