Life Married since 1969 to Carol Benes (Pius X '67 & St Emedius). Both graduated from Berkeley and have been career educators (her 34 years, now retired Superintendent of Los Alamitos Unified; me, retired as Principal El Segundo HS after a total of 33 years as a teacher and administrator in 5 districts). Son, Brandon, graduated from SF State, completed teaching credential at Long Beach State, is now teaching Social Studies at his alma mater, Los Alamitos HS and coaching freshman football. He married Jessica (also now teaching at Los Alamitos HS and Allie's former room-mate at Duke), on 7/4/04 at Lake Canandaigua near her family home in upstate New York. Daughter, Allison, undergrad from Duke, JD from Northwestern and passed California Bar Exam in 2005 and worked in the San Diego office of Latham and Watkins for 4 years. She married her husband, Jody also Duke undergrad) in La Jolla in 2007. He got his PhD in Neuroscience from Iowa and MD from UCSD; they bought a home in Iowa City where he grew up and is now doing residency in orthopedic surgery. My folks are still alive and living near us. My brother, Harry is a dentist, but still untamed; I'm tame. My sister, Ritchie lives with her family 4 blocks from us. She was the back up for our kids when they were growing up. I retired in June '05, and spend some time in Hawaii, where I have extended family and we have a condo on the Big Island.
