Robert's Story

After looking at Classmates for a few years it has always frustrated me that many people do not write anything about where they are or what they are doing. Some fill out the bios and what not, but rarely put anything specific. I realized that I do not have anything so I will give in and put something down for those from the past that might give a hoot. I am getting older since I am now retired from two occupations; the Marines and the police department. I was a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps and mainly worked the street as a police officer. I was a patrol officer, SWAT officer, and training officer, and flew helicopters from time to time as needed. I just edited this today (9/25/2023) because it was waaaay out of date. In order to follow my own advice I had better make it current. I am totally retired now and we live in Yucaipa, CA. We have four dogs (all rescues), 2 rescue cats, and 5 horses; gives me something to do. Two of our puppies died within the last 6 weeks. Bingo the Basset Hound made it to 13, Beauregard the labradoodle only 10( diabetes and the poor thing went blind to boot), and Gracie our yellow retriever who made it to 13. We adopted two more; a bloodhound named Darby that is ...Expand for more
afraid of EVERYTHING, and Buttercup, a golden retriever. We have been to all 50 states and I have been to quite a few countries. Most of those countries are ones I had to go to in the Marine Corps. And.....most of them were not fun places. Think Iraq and Afghanistan. :( No desire to travel anymore. We go to Colorado a few times a year to see grand kids. I swim at the local college as often as I can since that is the only exercise that doesn't hurt. Since I was a swimmer and water polo player it comes very naturally. This Covid mess has really changed what we can and can't do, but thankfully things seem to be back to normal. I also recently bought an electric bike. Amazing technology and super fun to ride. I have put a lot of miles on it already. It makes you work as hard as you feel like working at any given time. This reads like a police report, but if you read it please do your friends a favor and take a second to put something down about yourself. It is way too easy to lose track of friends from the past as we get older! And we are getting older! Heck, I turn 68 in 6 months (wow) p Guess I am thankful I have made it this far. Used up way more than the proverbial 9 lives to date. Stay healthy everyone.
