Nicholas's Story

Nicholas's schools included the Island Public School (Toronto Islands), St. Helen's (north Parkdale) after Graduation went onto Western Technical & Commerce High School where he Graduated with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. After graduation worked at Bryant Press, Toronto. Stayed there for 4 months and then joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force as a Cadet (age 19 years and given the number of 2109. Following his swearing in ceremony (age 21 years) received the number of 36 . h Honours. Nichoas is on the Board of the Etobicoke Historical Society and has been for the last 18 years. Grew up on the Toronto Islands, moved there in 1945 to Centre Island and then moved over to Hanlan's Point in 1947 before moving back to the Big Smoke (Toronto) in 1951 living in Parkdale. Before leaving the Island got the nickname of the Hanlan's Point Kid. Would like to be in touch with any Hanlan's Point kids from 1945 to 1951, had attended Island Public School for those years. Family names he remembers are the Oldershaws, the Mallons, the Georges the Warnocks and will name more as they come to mind.
