Nick's Story
After graduation, I attended Wake Forest for 1½ semesters. Mid 2nd semester my GPA was no where close to passing so, I joined the Navy. Went to boot camp in San Diego & was stationed at NAS Miramar (just north of SD) until June 1967. From there I went to Photographer's Mate School at Pensacola FL followed by Patrol Squadron (VP) 30. I got out of the Navy in January 1970 with the intention of working part time & going back to Wake Forest using my GI benefits. That didn't happen. After 1½ years and 5 jobs, I joined the Air Forece in June 1971. I retired from the Air Force in June 1988 after 22 years total service. My wife, Karen is originally from Monterey, CA. We lived there from June '88 to June '89 when we moved to Denver. Three years later we sold our house & moved back t...Expand for more
o Monterey. Most of my retirement years have been spent working in retail including 6ý years managing a computer store in Monterey. In 2004 we moved to Oklahoma where I took a job with the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture and retired in March 2013. We moved to Columbus, OH to be Grandma & Grandpa to our daughters kids. I'm currently working for Batteries Plus Bulbs in Grove City, OH and plan to fully retire in about 2 years.
The plan to retire never happened. I worked for Batteries Plus in Grove City for 6 years. In 2017 our daughter & family moved to Seattle, WA for a new job. Two years later they called & said they were moving to Phoenix. We sold our house & moved to Mesa, AZ. I'm still working for Batteries Plus and probably will be until I can't get out of bed in the morning.
