Nicole's Story

Life Since my days of High School madness, I am thankful that I actually fulfillled what I believed at that time would be my ideal career path. I was an international flight attendant for American Airlines. I held this position for 2 years from 98-2000 at the most perfect time in my life for that kind of lifestyle. I moved back to New York. (if any of you really knew me, you knew I was from there originally) and lived in the city while travelling all over the world. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to broaden my horizons (Meaning , I can appreciate and understand that America is not the center of the universe, as so many people in this society nowadays tend to forget) At the same time, I appreciate that no matter what country you are from, people all smile the same, just as they all cry and laugh the same. You learn alot about people when you are at 35,000 feet for 7 or 8 hours. The most profound place I have ever been was Israel. I was blessed to have had an Israelie boyfriend at that time in my life so I was immersed in that culture for the better part of 2 years. This country is so beautiful. Very much like Phoenix in comparision to the weather except it was much more lush and green than Phx ever was. The truth about Arabs and Isralies is that 99% are for peace. They even leave their doors unlocked at night. They have the best of Europe and American culture (by means of technology and society's ill's) They even have Domino's Pizza! The teenage kids cant speak english but know every word to...Expand for more
Brittney Spears. It was definately an eye opener as to just how far the American Culture has spread. Tel Aviv has beautiful beaches and nice outside bars with good music. (America I must say is not thefront runner when it comes to music. Europe by far has the stronghold on that one)There is so much peaceful energy and harmony that you forget that the outdoor market you find yourself shopping at was recently bombed a few weeks ago and people lost their lives.People go on. They do not want war but they will not give up on peace. All Isralies go to the millitary at 18. Men and Women. It is common to see soldiers hitching a ride with AK 47's at their side. We actually picked up 3 one time. Very interesting I must say. It is just the way of life. I also got to see the reality of what Sadam Hussein's skud missles did to peoples way of life back in 91. All families have gasmasks that they are required to have and keep updated and accounted for within their homes. This too is a way of life. While at his home, their presence in the basement was as commonplace as a washer and dryer in many of our homes here in America. If my bio is not what you expected to read may I say that my experience in this profound place in the world was not what I expected to share with you. It is just one way to put a face on a part of the world that so many of us hear about yet may never really get to experience. It changed my life. I am thankful. In life things are not always as they appear. This is just one lesson of that truth.
