Nicole (Nikki)'s Story

Life I (dillard_n) feel like I am (at) caught in (ya hooooo) the middle of being old and young. It's awkward. But here I am. Honestly, I may not be quite where I want to be as far as a career is concerned, or even know where I want to be - but I am finally the woman that I want to be. In high school, I was extremely shy and quiet. Except for my Sophomore year that I spent on the track team, I was pretty low-key, and many may not remember me. The great news is that I broke out of my shell, and interestingly enough became a people person. I am no longer shy, and enjoy getting to know people, and making them laugh. I suppose I just needed to make it past those uncomfortable teenage years to find out who I truly was. Now I am comfortable with myself, and extremely happy with that. Currently I live in Georgia, but look forward to moving back to Minnesota with my beautiful partner Shevon, buying a house, and starting our family. Thanks for reading. peace, nikki. School I joined the Zion community in the 8th grade at Central Jr. High. Then I went on to ZBTHS. I faced having to...Expand for more
transfer to Waukegan High for my Senior year when it was discovered that I lived outside of the district. But the powers-that-be allowed me to finish out my high school career in Zion. For that I am very grateful. College I graduated from high school, then immediately went to college at the University of Minnesota at Morris. Majored in English, minored in Speech Communication. Got a great education there, but perhaps my greatest education was in life experience, as I really grew up during my college years. I learned a lot, met some of my best friends in life and formed a second family, had many "first" experiences, saw my godson come into the world, and came out to my family and friends, and most importantly myself.... Workplace As you may have seen in my life bio, I haven't quite figured out what I want to do as a career. Right now, I'd say I'm working a job, and it pays the bills. One day, I'll settle on a career. I work many long hours, and wish i had more time to put in volunteer work with youth (gay and inner-city). Maybe I'll hit the lottery, and get that free time I need.
