Nicole's Story
Life
Wow, so much has happened since high school. I wasn't really all that in to high school because I was really shy! But after graduation I went to school at a missions school in Whiteriver and that totally changed my life. I lived in the White Mountain Apache Tribe territory on the reservation. So many special memories there!!! I still love going up there and visiting everyone. I did street ministry to alcoholics and hopeless folks with a group of girls that became like sisters to me. Such an awesome experience! I was involved in the youth, helping out as much as I could. I remember when I first got there I was so afraid. They looked like they were mean people. But they melted when a hand was out stretched to them. Since everything is given to them they have nothing to live for. A lot of them get involved in alcohol, drugs, sex, and suicide. This was the first time that this little church and Whiteriver ever had a missions school. There were 3 other girls besides me. Elizabeth, Treva, and Jessica, then we had the youth pastor, J.P. Who everyone thought he was a cutie! We saw many people gain a sense of hope as we spent every last hour with them. I enjoyed the youth and would go hang out and play basketball instead of doing my homework. I know that we made an impact for Christ!
After I graduated from Whiteriver, I moved home. I met a really nice guy and a year later we got married. Steven was his name and a year after we got married we had Brenden our son. Times were hard and we went through a lot of struggles. When Brenden was 9 m...Expand for more
onths old Steve left us. He met another girl and after we got the divorce finalized, he married her. After the divorce I went through a lot of crazy things... Like our house burned to the ground because of our dryer burning up. That house was the house I grew up in 25 yrs. of my life!
When I moved in with my parents 2 years ago I decided to go back to school. I went to Apollo College full time and worked full time for a whole year. The best decision I have ever made! I have been a dental assistant now for a year. I love my job! I get to see Brenden a lot more.
Brenden turns 5 in 2 weeks and I can't even believe it! He starts kindergarten this year. I am so thankful that God gave him to me. He's my little sunshine. He is a great kid! He loves Thomas the Tank engine. I took him about a month ago to see Thomas in Williams, AZ It's amazing how packed that place was. He loved it!!!
Throughout this life I have learned sooo much. You have to appreciate the little things most people ignore. When they are gone you will... I have learned God is So Good and he will never leave you!!! And he gives you the wisdom in what you need to do, even as a single mommy. I have learned to lean on him in all situations. And the most important lesson I have learned is NEVER GIVE UP!!!
The future is bright!!! I plan on going back to school when Brenden goes to kindergarten. I want to further my career in Dentistry and become a dentist. I look ahead knowing the past is in the past. And so I have no regrets. I am ready to begin the journey!!!
