Noreene 's Story

Life I married Mark September 10, 2005. We have 7 kids. My 5 boys his 2 girls. We live in Northeast WA where we are building a house. 4 of the boys are still living at home. My husband left the family construction company recently and now is a foreman with a large construction co in Spokane and I am full time writing and an artist now. I am still working on finishing my two degrees Clinical Psychology and Studio Art, I completed my minor in anthropology. Wes turned 18 recently and left home. It is hard watching my disabled son step out on his own but even with the disabilities he needs to fly. One thing was sure, I was the odd duck in school and friends were few. it was a lonely time. Moving away was the best thing for me. I hope classmates can now look back and see how I was a creative person just stuck in the wrong place and time. I did take a lot away from there though. I always wanted to be a Fighter pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ok idea idea. As it turns out, they were supportive and never told me girls could not do things like that. I meditate, practice chakra healing, burn white sage, pray, paint, and throw clay on the wheel. I did many stupid things in school many I am not proud of. What I am proud of is through those experiences I made positive changes in my life. The loss of friends impacted me greatly. A defining moment for me was selecting a headstone and sorting clips of hair for family members as memories because a mother and brother were still one year later in so much pain they were unable to do that. I cant tell you what it was like to hold his hair in my hands and give it away to people. I stopped drinking and I am a person who does not drink. Life has always been about surprises for me. Ive learned to always be flexible. be the reed. but life is exciting and it is what it is. You have to understand its the journey that counts not the destination. Make every day worth being the only and the last. I have seven kids. 5 i gave birth to and 2 from my husband. On as a single mom of five. I learned I am strong and can do anything. I learned as a parent of a kid with disabilities that i had courage and strength. I learned to speak publicly and spent ten years studying neuro-behavioral psychology. My autistic son taught me so much about love and forgiveness too. He is so amazing he would always turn a cheek to people who teased or tormented him and say they just didn't know any better. If I won $100 million, I'd give $10 million of it to Spokane Neighborhood Action Homeless Opportu...Expand for more
nities Programs, then spend the rest on building a home, Contracting business and wired computer tech home with computers for all my kids.. I was an over the hill recycled college student as the young ones called me. My roomies were my kids. I taught my kids Spanish so i could have study buddies. But hey college was great, I was a cougar... a little leather skirt and stiletto high healed leather boots and who cares about age! I am truly happy in the woods on the hill here, tending my goat herd and other farm animals. Painting, throwing clay, going to kids band concerts and football games, being a mom , grandmother. Road trips with my husband. its always an adventure with him. I have what I need. I may not have a million dollar house and my foundation did not get poured this year. but I am richer than two thirds of the world. i have a husband who loves me. i have a great family. i have a roof, food, what else could I ever really need? I am finally accepting I will never fit in the 9-5 world. I will suffocate and die in it. All my life I have been told to write so I am pursuing the dream. the first step is you have to believe you are a writer. Sell yourself and then write what you know! I have no Idea what happened to my first crush but a really funny story about that. I used to wear dresses my freshman year. it never failed I would wear a dress and come around a corner and hit a slick spot on the floor and fall on my rear.. and yeah I look up and there he was laughing at me. I'm glad I made great entertainment for him. I quit wearing dresses! Not a chance I dress like back then. Well with the exception of a great pair of jeans. The 80's are dead please bury them! I am also too young for bingo wear. you know turquoise or hot pink with big flowers and sweat pants. I like to dress some what trendy but not trying to be thirteen, by the way why do we let thirteen yr old's wear that stuff? i also dress ethnic new age. I think they call it goddess style. i think that's a goofy name for it though. but still nothing wears like a great pair of jeans and a t shirt. And curse you designer who created hip hugger pants, really? women my size? get real! I don't need jeans to my neck but i want something to cover up the double moons of Saturn. The weirdest job I had was as a phone psychic for Psychic Readers Network, Really! he it paid more than nursing did at the time. I did not have to pay for child care, and I could work in my bathrobe if I wanted. In 10 years, I hope to be back on the published circuit. I'm going to get there by working hard.
