Norene's Story
One of the most heartbreaking things that has every happened to me was driving away from Grand Junction in October of my junior year at Central. My dad was transfered to Omaha, Neb., where it stayed below zero and the wind blew constantly for that entire winter. I thought I had been dropped into the pits of hell. before I didn't have to ask for directions and the land was flat as a pancake.
LIfe turned out pretty good, though. I got married young to a wonderful man, had two pretty girls and now I have a 2-year-old grandson.
About 15 years ago, we moved to the Ozarks, near Branson, where I'm the publisher of our small weekly county newspaper.
I'm still hoping to get back to the mountains someday.
