Norma's Story
Life
When you stop to read my bio, please leave your name. I would enjoy knowing the names of my visitors. I do hope you are all well.
Life has been very kind to me and I am grateful. I have been fortunate enough to have met interesting people and have travelled to interesting places. My travelling companion these days is Muriel Bryant Swanson, also of OHS '54.
I live in the little house I lived in when growing up and enjoy the memories. In my spare time, I volunteer at the Governor's Mansion as docent and curator. I LOVE that magnificent mansion.
Recently, I was invited to be on a committee that oversees furnishings in the old Capitol bldgs. That committee is chaired by classmate Gerry Alexander.
I also love a glass of red wine and am, occasionally, funny.
We are at a time in our lives when things begin to wear out, rust and fall off. But, all it takes is a phone call from a friend or a family member, and I'm out the door.

A few days ago, a group of us celebrated our 75th birthday at the Boulevard Tavern in Olympia. The tavern started in 1936, as did most of us. It was fun and silly and a good time was had by all, including some of the tavern regulars. We brought the usual nibbles- nuts, pretzels and, then, added a cake. Imagine, beer and cake!

I just returned from visiting friends and family in the NY & CT. Unfortunately, there aren't too many friends left there, but got in a lot of sightseeing, too. Went to the 9/11 memorial and visited the two old churches in the area. A dear friend met me for the last week and wanted to see the Christmas decorations and the Lady Gaga display at Barney's. Fortunately, we both have been doing a lot of walking around Capitol Lake and going up and down the subway stairs was easier than when I tried it a couple of years ago. Earlier, one of my daughters and I attended a party right above the Rockefeller Center christmas tree, on the 15th floor, to see the tree lighting ceremony. I was involved in conversation and noticed the room suddenly brighten, which meant I'd missed the whole thing, but it was an enjoyable evening. More photos will be downloaded.
