Michael's Story
I am retired, however stay very active at the Senior Mobile Home Park I live at in San Jacinto, CA.
There is a 4 acre lake which we stock twice a year with Trout and Catfish, plus we have a good population of Bass, which are catch and release only. I have enjoyed fishing since I was a young boy, traveling to Lone Pine, CA during the summers to visit my grandparents. Those trips always included many trips to the local streams to catch trout. At the Lake at Country Lake Mobile Home Park, where I live, I have pulled in a 8lb 6oz and 7lb 4oz Bass (released) and a 8lb 4oz Catfish. We can take 2 trout per week, which are great on the BBQ.
The other activities that keep me busy are; I drive into Glendale on Wednesdays and rehearse with the Crescenta Valley Alumni Chorale, directed by Miss Shirley Nute, then we perform for Retirement Centers in Montrose, L...Expand for more
a Crescenta, Glendale, Pasadena and Bradbury.
My activities at Country Lake MHP include being the President of our Wildlife-Nature Club, which deals with the fish plants, installing Wood Duck Nesting Boxes around our Lake, Bluebird Boxes and most of all just enjoying our beautiful lake.
I began a Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) at Country Lake two years ago after we had 105 mile-an-hour winds strike our park and caused major damage. Fortunately we had no serious injuries or deaths. This event caused me to develop this C.E.R.T. program to prepare for any form of emergencies, which may include the "Big One", earthquake that is. Are you prepared?
If you would like information on how to start a C.E.R.T. program where you live, feel free to contact me, I'll be glad to guide you. One of my moto's is
"Don't get Caught Preparing to Prepare".
