Oliver's Story
Life
After graduating from High School and completing one year at Sinclair Community College I joined the United States Navy. In retrospect, joining the Navy was the best thing I could have ever done. My question of "what is life like outside of Centerville?" was answered.
Stationed in Yokosuka, Japan I traveled to places like Hawaii, South Korea, Okinawa, Guam, Philippines, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. It was awesome! I was seeing the world and getting paid to do it.
At the end of my enlistment I continued my education at the University Of Cincinnati College of Applied Sciences. I joined the Flying club, College Republicans, Wrestling club, Student Government, and the Triangle Fraternity. Despite having traveled to so many places I was not settled. I wanted to see more. So, before graduating, I reenlisted in the United States Navy.
This time I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. I traveled to Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Africa, and The Middle East. Upon completion of my second enlistment, I joined the Air National Guard and went back to school.
Today, I am at The Ohio State University majoring in Electrical Engineering/Economics and thinking about a minor in either French or Chinese. I am involved with Student Government (government relations committee), Rugby, and the Air National Guard. Calculus and Physics are killing me but I could not be happier. Go Buckeyes!
I am a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the National Riffle Association. I have a dog (female German shepherd), I play the guitar, and I drive a ...Expand for more

School
My Business teacher inspired me the most. I cannot remember her name but I really enjoyed her class. She always encouraged and believed in me.
The happiest, craziest, and funniest moments were at the football games--standing in the student section cheering and yelling. It is no wonder our team did as good as they did....the crowd was so loud the other team couldn't hear the count!
College
You know what I like about college women....I get older and they stay the same age. I am kidding.
College is fun for me. My trick to surviving is getting involved on campus and staying away from the parties. I am doing everything opposite than High School. This includes doing homework. I admire the students that do well in school. My philosophy with regard to doing well in school is that it is easy when you don't try but difficult when you do.
Workplace
Not much here....I am still finishing school. Does poet count as work? This is my most recent work...
The Library
By Oliver Eli Thompson
I am in the first grade.
It is the summer.
My mom drives us to the library to get books.
We are in the Summer Reading Program.
Now, it is winter.
I miss the summer.
School is in full swing.
I enter a Bookmark Contest.
I draw a car with giant wheels doing a burnout;
it is on the way to the library.

Military
The military was great! I would not trade it for anything in the world.
