Ondria's Story
Life
The highlights: Left high school to go to MIT in 1981, majored
in electrical engineering and computer science, minored in
music, got married in 1986 to Peter Wasem, continued at MIT
and got a Ph.D. in communications in 1989, moved to New
Jersey and got a job at Bellcore (now called Telcordia
Technologies), Peter worked in Manhattan at the time, we built
our current house in West Windsor, NJ, gave birth to a baby
boy Elliot and moved into the house (in that order) in 1994,
switched to a part-time work schedule, got a patent and a
promotion (to Senior Research Scientist) in 1996, enrolled Elliot
in Waldorf School in 1997, Peter got a job in Princeton, gave

irl Emily in 1999, founded Network Design
Tools, Inc. with 7 colleagues from Telcordia in 2001, as a
princiapl engineer. In late 2001, Network Design Tools, Inc.
merged with RSoft, Inc. to form RSoft Design Group, Inc.
Well things have changed a bit since I wrote the above. It's August 2004 now. Last year, I got laid off, and Peter started his own architectural firm. It took me about a year to find a job, but I formed Wasem Consulting LLC and I've been consulting for Teleglobe since March. The best part is that Peter works out of the house and I work only 15 min. from home, so it's much easier to care for the kids now. Elliot just turned 10, and Emily will be 5 in a couple of months.
