Tracy's Story

Life Hi Y'all, I spent 25 years as a cnc-machinist at Carrier Corp. in Syracuse. The pay was good and that's the only reason I stayed in Syracuse. The weather here still stinks. As a matter of fact so does the economy, thats why I'm working on my bachelors degree in Renewable Resources Technologies. I have about 2 more years to go. I can't wait to leave New York completely. I am married to a wonderful woman (Cheryl) and we have a great 7 year old son (Paul). Cheryl is great because she puts up with and understands me. My son Paul is a near clone of me only smarter. Paul has my somewhat impish sense of humor. As you may have figured ( by the math ) I waited a while to start a family. Anyways, I love to scuba dive and hunt when I get the chance. Actually I hunt more than I dive due to the fact that I do not presently own a boat. However my wife's sister has 250 acres of land in the southern teer. It is primo white-tail and turkey country. My wife Cheryl also hunts although she hasn't shot anything yet. She is just as good a marksman as I am but she just doesn't get out hunting as much as I do. She is more easily detured by harsh weather than I am. Right now I'm a full time student and a stay at home dad. My wife is presently bringing home the bacon. I find school to be a challenge in spite of the good grades I've been acheiving. I was kind of forced into college due to Carrier Corp. closing it's doors. But I've surprised myself and made the honors role once and the deans list 3 times. Wow, what a change from high school. Now comes the real shocker for those who knew me as a party hound in school. I'm a born again christian. Thats right, I went from a leftist atheist to a right wing christian. Believe me life is easier and better since the change ( about 10 years ago). As for my political views...Expand for more
I am a conservative but not a Bush fan. I don't find much conservative about him. My last statement on politics is that the majority of both parties makes me sick. Enough on politics. Upon graduating I plan to leave New York, with my family of course. Virginia, Tennessee or Wyoming are looking good to us in terms of economics and weather. I'm sick of snow, although it's nice for tracking deer in hunting season. As a matter of fact thats my only use for the white plague (snow). As for Carrier Corp. I do not miss working in a factory, but I freequently miss the pay. Besides, my wife says I'm a much nicer person since the place closed. Many other folks agree with her. On a more positive note, going to school in the environmental sciences is really exciting. We learn everything from fisheries biology to forestry and wetland restoration and management. There are a lot of field trips to really nice and desolate places. This comes in handy for finding new fishing spots. Although I've talked about hobbies, school and Carrier Corp. the center of my life is church and family oriented activities. You know, the basic dad type of things such as teaching my son swim, play baseball, ride a bike and all of those marvelous things that sons and fathers do. My son is very anxious to hunt but that will have to wait due to regulations etc. OK, Ive jabbered on enough about some of the major events in my life to the point where you're probably bored by now. It's a good thing thing we can't show home movies on this site. Anyway, if you care to respond feel free to do so. I just hope that my foggier years don't cause me problems when it comes to matching a face to a name. In other words don't be offended if I don't remember you. Good Luck, Trace
