Karen's Story
Life
After high school I attended OCC for two years and then went to work full time in the acct. dept. of a computer company. In 1986 I got married, bought a house, and gave birth to our daughter nine months later. Sixteen months later, our son was born and I quit work to stay at home. The next five years were hectic but fun - moms' groups, park days and play dates. When the kids began school, I went with them and worked there as an RSP aide until we moved to Yorba Linda, in 1998.

g credential for mild/moderate learning disabilities. I am beginning my fifth year of teaching as a Resource Specialist for grades K-6th and loving it. The past five years have been extremely challenging and bittersweet as I have begun a new career and suffered the loss of both my beloved father-in-law and my mother to cancer. On the sweet side, I am thankful to have my children out of high school and in college. I'm enjoying spending time alone with my husband, cooking for family and friends and working in my garden. The SUV is going and I'm driving a sporty new car for the first time in 17 years. Life is good.
