Pam's Story

Well..I moved to Rockville from Hammond IN. my 6th grade year. Went to Rockville High school untill my junior year in 1977. Was active in choir, Pom Pom girl, loved drama in Mr.Jones's class. Some history to refresh your memory...(try to stay awake now !!)...Lets see..I was involved in F.H.A, Pep Club, Rainbow, basketball queen attendent freshman year, junior year one of the football queen attendents. Nick Smith and Mike Clodfelter were my escorts. I still don't take life too serious or sweat the small stuff. My daughter just rolls her eyes at my attempts to make her laugh when she gets all "Drama" on me. But I am the first one she calls to cheer her up! My friends all tell me that is my job in life.. ;) It is a fun one at that!! My husband and I can still crack each other up after 27 years...and when I am with my siblings ....there is not a dry eye in the room with us all full of tears of laughter ...fun times!!!The summer before my junior year, Paige Becker gave my name to Beta Phi Sorority. They asked me to be in the 1976 Parke County queen contest. I did and tied with Holly Cooper for Miss Congeniality. It was the only year ever that two people tied (just to refresh your memory in case you can't place me).. MY JUNIOR YEAR I MOVED TO CARPENTERSVILLE IL. WITH MY SISTER. I WENT TO IRVING CROWN HIGH MY JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEAR. I LOVED THAT OUTDOOR RECREATION AND CAKE DECORATING WERE ACTUAL CLASSES. SEX ED.WAS A MUST TO GRADUATE SO I WAS IN A CLASS OF ALL FRESHMAN..TOO FUNNY..THE CAFETERIA BLEW ME AWAY..AND THE FOOD FIGHTS CRACKED ME UP. FUN TIMES ...I ATTENDED OUR GRADUATION JUNE 3RD. 6:30pm OUT ON THE LAWN WITH MY CLASS. DEJEAN DUFECK, SUE NASH AND ABUNCH OF US GIRLS WENT OUT ON THE TOWN TO CELEBRATE..;) AND HIT EVERY PARTY THAT NIGHT!! I HAVE PIC'S BUT JUST HAVEN'T DOWN LOADED THEM YET. HUGE POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL GAME FOR THE GIRLS WAS A BLAST AND THE GIRL THAT GOT IT STARTED UP WORKED HARD WITH US TO GET US IN SHAPE BUT UNDER CLASSMEN TORE US UP..LOL THANK YOU TO THE ONE THAT DID ALL THAT WORK. SUE NASH WAS NICE ENOUGH TO LET ME STAY WITH HER PART OF MY SENIOR YEAR WHILE HER SISTER WAS AWAY AT COLLEGE. THANK YOU TO HER FAMILY FOR OPENING UP THEIR HOME AND BEING MY ADOPTED PARENTS AT A VERY DIFFICULT TIME IN MY LIFE. I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE THEY GAVE ME. HER BROTHER TOOK MY CAR FOR A "LIL" DRIVE ON HIS LUNCH ONE DAY AND AFTER SCHOOL I HAD NO BRAKES..THAT IS FUNNY NOW BUT MADE ME AND SUE MAD...LOL..I MADE LOTS OF FRIENDS AT CROWN. JERRY HOWELL GAVE ME THE TOUR OF SCHOOL AND TOWN...PETE MARGIOTTA AND BILL GAGE SHARED SOME FUN AND MEALS WITH ME AND VICKY ZINSELMEIER..AND ALWAYS LET US PAY... I DIDN'T GET A YEAR BOOK SO ALL I HAVE IS MY COMMENCEMENT PAPER, GOWN, CAP..ETC..AND SOME GREAT MEMORIES FROM THE GRADUATION CLASS OF 1978 AND CROWN. I REMEMBER NAMES AND FACES. Mom had her hands full with Dads health and they moved to assisted living so Mom could have round the clock car...Expand for more
e for Dad. My brother was just there a month or two then enlisted in the Army. My Dad lost his battle with his health a few years later. After graduating in 1978 I returned to Indiana and met my husband in 1980. We married in 1982 and had two children...daughter is going for her masters and son went to College for his field and is working in quality control. He is going for his degree in Youth Ministry right now..but is on the staff as the Youth Minister at a local Church. I plan on being very involved to help him in any way I can. He is also married and expecting our first Grandchild in Sept. We have been very blessed with our health and close family. While raising the kids I went back to school and took a few classes in education and taught Sex Education in the school system for 3 to 4 years. I actually worked with Dr. Renz from Rockville to get the program into the public school system....and am proud to say it is a part of the health program today. So thank you Dr. Renz for all your support. He retired soon after but I still ran into him at many school functions. I helped open a local facility that dealt with troubled teens and worked there for 6 years. It is still open to this day. I taught chidren in church for 13 years and had many different classes. Some of my students contact me today and are in the mission field. That is a proud feeling..to know I played a small part in their future. I was a fundraiser for Christian Womans Connection for a few years and Special Feature Chairman. I worked with the Youth while my kids were involved and was fundraiser for that as well. I did Meals on Wheels with the kids and many other community functions while they were growing up to keep busy and teach them to reach out of their comfort zone. Now that my husband and I are empty nesters, I have had some fun reconnecting with old friends. One of the best connections I have made was hearing Tim Russell preach and visiting his church with my husband and children. To see what God has done with his life after having such a touching story from his high school days was a true blessing and witness. Way to go "Tim"! To think of the lives Pastor Tim has touched and changed warms my heart. That is what it's all about!!!!! My older brothers and sister, Greg, Karen, Mike and Tim are all well. Greg and his wife Jolynn, who is from Rockville, have 4 kids and 5 grandchildren. Mike and his wife Jenny, who is Jolynn's sister, and went to Rockville too, have a daughter and two grandboys... their daughter has a radio show out of Chicago, and Mike has owned his own family business for 15 years..I do books and decor for him as well. Karen, my sister still lives close to the Carpentersville area, is married and has 2 sons and 4 grandkids. Tim is still single girls !!...lol I have had my own business as well for 7 years called Delightful Designs. I now have down sized. Thanks for reading my "lil" story ...Pam Cox Hall
