Pam's Story

Life Hi Fellow Classmates! I hope life has treated you well! After working as a Senior Marketing Associate for Sysco Foodservices for 15 years, I decided to make a career change. I took a break and I had bi-lateral knee replacement surgery 3 Summers ago. After I recovered, I was good as new! I then started my two year career at Goodwill in January'08. I was a Senior Account Executive... selling Goodwill's Business Services to Companies in Berks. Lehigh and surrounding Counties. You might find it interesting to know that Goodwill is so much more than a Store...Actually, 85% of the proceeds from the sales of the donated items in Goodwill Stores is used to train people with disabilities and other barriers to independence. They learn to work within the Business Services that I sold. These services include a NAID certified Shredding Service, Goodwill's Cartridge Service (we remanufacture 31 HP Laser printer cartridges), Goodwill's Direct Mailing Service, and our Custodial Services. This gives Goodwill's Trainees a "sense of purpose" and allows them to achieve their full potential as workers and as members of their community. I found it VERY fulfilling to be able to make a POSITIVE difference in other People's lives! Part of my job description was "Public Relations"... So, I was and I am still VERY active as a volunteer in the Community and spreading the "GOODWILL" at many Chamber events in Berks County. I still serve as an "Ambassador" for the Greater Reading/Berks Chamber of Commerce. I also am a Member of the West Reading/Wyomissing Rotary, which I love and find rewarding! I serve on the Board of Directors for EDI (Easy Does It), a wonderful nonprofit organization that offers support and housing to people in recovery from addiction. I also continue to serve on the Bowling Committee and the Golf Event Committee as a volunteer for Junior Achievement. As I mentioned, I am no longer an Employee of Goodwill, but I am still passionate for their MISSION... I continue to serve on Goodwill's Volunteer Committee for their 2nd Annual Runway Show/Fundraiser...It will be at the VF Designer Building on Thursday, September 9th, 2010...so, if you want to have a good time while supporting a ...Expand for more
good cause, come out and join us! (More info on this event can be found on their website.) As for my personal life, I got married in February'09 to a GREAT guy, named Ron Stauffer. He graduated in 1964 from Boyertown High School and he is retired from GPU/First Energy. (He had worked there as an electrical Engineer.) We had a lovely intimate Wedding and a Dinner/Reception at the Stirling Guest Hotel with 58 Guests, including family and friends...our families have blended together better than I could have hoped! My Daughter was my Matron of Honor and my Step-Son was Best Man. Of course, my Son "gave me away"! We went on a WONDERFUL 11 night Cruise to the Southern Carribbean for our Honeymoon. So, I guess you could say that even at our age, you can still find LOVE! So, don't give up IF you are single!! Of course now, I'm not only the PROUD Nanna of my 9 yr. old Grandson, I have 4 more adorable Grand kids! We have TWIN Grand Daughters age 5 1/2. And, we have 2 more Grand Sons, ages 7 and 9...all 3 boys play soccer and they were INSTANT pals! We bought a new home at River's Edge in Muhlenberg TWP. It is very nostalgic living back in the area that I grew up in! My Son, Rick is temporarily living with us. He is in the process of getting certified as a Personal Trainer. My Daughter, Melissa is a Pharmaceutical Rep and lives in Exeter Township with her Husband and Son. And, I have a Step Daughter, Jennifer and a Step Son, Brian. I credit Leo Buscaglia for my outlook on love and life ....and, my years working for Dale Carnegie Training for my positive attitude in getting through the difficult times and enjoying everyday life! I also have a STRONG faith in God, who has blessed me with so much! IF anyone is interested in having a 45th Reunion for the Class of 66, I would be glad to help plan it. I have LOTS of experience in creating menus and coordinating events from dealing with Caterers and Country Clubs for 15 years at Sysco. Can you believe it is 44 years since we graduated? So, I think that we should plan a FANTASTIC 45th Class Reunion for June 2011. Why not? Please let me know if you are interested in organizing it with me. Take care & may God BLESS each of YOU! Hugs, Pam
