Pam's Story
Life
My Spouse
I was working as a waitress at the Sambo's restaurant in Camarillo, CA when he was hired. I trained him to be a waiter.
My Pets
Abby is a black Labrador retriever. She is six years old, and has no toes on her left hind foot because her mother chewed them off when she was an infant.
Shannon is a female cinnamon tabby; I'm told that cats of this color are usually males, so she's a rarity. She is five years old, and her nick-name is "Spitfire Hellcat."
I haven't named my fish! We have one 20-gallon aquarium in the living room of our home, and I have a totla of four bettas, two of which usually reside in 1-gallon aquariums in my classroom.
Cocoa is my rabbit. She's a miniature, but not a lop. She's also almost five years old. She has dark brown fur. When I got her in CA, she was a classroom bunny, but she stays in my home now that we're in NV.
Pooh-Bear is my teddy bear hamster. She's tan and white, and keeps Cocoa company at home.
Harriette is the tarantula. She's a common NV desert tarantula that wandered onto the school grounds three years ago during tarantula...Expand for more
mating season. Another teacher had her in his classroom for most of the year, and went off and left her in teacher's lounge on the last day of school! I've had her ever since -- it's been almost two years now.
My Kids
Joshua is 21 years old now. He's taking classes at CCSN here in the Las Vegas area. He's still living at home at this time. When he was 20, we discovered that he is an insulin-dependent diabetic. At this time, he'll remain at home with us until he can secure a job with adequate health coverage for his condition.
Teresa is 15. She's a sophomore in high school and is enrolled in an International Baccalaureate Program. It's an extremely high-level academic program. She is still doing Irish dancing, which she began when she was nearly 5 years old. She has also discovered a strong interest in theatre, which doesn't surprise me at all!
My Job
I teach a pull-out program for third, fourth, and fifth grade gifted students. I presently have 92 kids in my program! I absolutely love working with these kids, and I stay extremely busy just trying to stay half a step ahead of them!
