Pam's Story

Over to my right, Classmates.com has suggested that I include in my story something that would surprise everyone at a high school reunion. Would it surprise you to know that if you drop in to visit, you might find me milking cows and making artisan cheese with classical music in the background? If not, it should. Milking cows was very close to the bottom of the list of things I intended to do in this life. Forty-two years of life with my would-be farmer has brought such activities to the top of the list. I can make this even more entertaining - I also garden (organic), can, freeze, quilt, sew, bake/cook, and make like the Little Red Hen - grind my wheat to bake my bread. If that were not bad enough, I also teach others to do the same and sell equipment and supplies to those who are moving back to the country to live like we do. You will be relieved to know that we sometimes wash-up and take the buckboard to Nashville to enjoy dinner and a concert in the high-rent district! It might be the symphony or country music. (The "buckboard" is the only lie.) We live about 60 miles northwest of Nashville near Erin, TN. I'm sure everybody remembers the foo...Expand for more
tball game against Athens (Avondale Stadium) when Stanley Logan took the opening kick-off and ran it back for a touchdown. For two minutes or so, we thought we were on our way to making football history. On the next play, one of those arrogant Athens players said to our guys, "That will be the last one!" and they went on to beat us __ to 7. (the actual score is in dispute) Ask Don Smith. I didn't put all that together until after I had been married to the arrogant player from Athens for some 30 years. You KNOW I wouldn't have married him if I had known, don't you? Be careful what you name your children. Without our being in contact at all, James Stogner (class of '61)and Pat Marone (class of '62) named their son Shane Patton Stogner for George Patton (WWII General, West Point graduate). We named our oldest son Brandley Clayton Smith for Omar Bradley (WWII General, West Point graduate). Shane and Clay wound up as classmates at West Point. Pretty spooky, huh? I think they now live in the same neighborhood in Newnan. I see I have 17886 characters remaining. Maybe I had better take pity on you and not use them. I would love to hear from you.
