Pam's Story

Life Graduated in '73 from CMHS. Married Jim Nowlin (also CMHS '73). Had a daughter. Divorced. Married second husband, Terry Ruetten. 2nd kid (son).Moved from CM to Garden Grove in '86.My husband & I are towards the end now of a lengthy divorce (hoping by end of 2007)and the most difficult part is that we are still living in the same house due to our office ! Self employed in an audio recording business called Master Duplicators in it's 28th year. We travel with conventions recording and making cd's/mp3's of lectures. I have 2 grandkids (boys) ages 7 & 11 who I have been raising for the past 5 years. When I turned 50 I went a little crazy like in the movies and started doing Taebo, losing weight, hooking up with old friends and remembering what it was like to live, love, and party. Coming out of my middle age doldrums finally and starting to enjoy life again. Listening to music a lot and going to concerts. Looking for '73 alumni and other friends interested in connecting for fun and memories. School Those were the days ! Ok, I regret ditching gym classes so much for the beach. Luckily I still managed to squeak thru and graduate in '73 along with all of you thanks to a contract (remember those?)that I made at the last minute with a teacher named Frank. Very cool. He actually let me finish credits by making my first macrame which I still have in a box in the garage. Hope it's not buggy by now. I kept out of the dating game most of H.S. with one 3 yr relationship dating a guy from Estancia and then the Sr. yr dating Jim Nowlin which was a trip. Between my relationship and working at the USA stereo shop on 17th street that year it didn't leave much time to culminate friendships with some of my classmates that I know now would have been enjoyable. I left home on my 18th bi...Expand for more
rthday a week after graduating which meant I was fully into the workforce as well. Got pregnant with my daughter Jamey (Jim's kid)at 19 which started a new chapter.Married Jim at 20 - divorced by age 22.work-work-work. Picked my life up. Got a good job working at IDC(computer company-now Safeguard but moved)on Fairview & Wilson in C.M. Remarried to Terry (still together)in '81, birthed our son-Chase in '84.Finally moved out of C.M. and bought a home in Garden Grove near Disney (Katella & Brookhurst)in '86 where we still reside. Quit my job in '87? and have been working with my husband to build our audio recording co.(Master Duplicators) ever since. We travel across the US with conventions and make audio recordings of seminar speakers which are sold on cassette & cd format to attendees on-site and thru mail order. It's a cool business because you get free rooms in 5 star hotels and get to visit a lot of places. In between gigs we work from our home office. We've been on 8 cruises (mainly Caribbean)usually with friends and are trying to get together a group cruise possibly for spring '04. Anyone interested ? We need it. Our life has been difficult the past year since my daughter and her husband went homeless and left my 2 grandkids (age 3 & 7)in our care. Within a week of my son graduating from Rancho Alamitos H.S. I was back at preschool and 1st grade. Still don't see the end to that tunnel yet but as the responsible, caring adult that I have become in life I will sacrifice my next several years if need be to make sure my grandkids needs are met. So, at 48, I'm identified more as 'grammy' now than Pam. Anyone else in the same boat ? email me, I would love to hear from any or all of you. I make a mean margarita if anyone wants to venture into my neighborhood.
