Pamela's Story
Life
Boy! that's a tall order....bringing you up to date...a LOT has happened since St. Francis De Sales.Â
I am a Katrina victum (so that along say's alot). Let's see where do I begin?
After leaving St. Francis, I attended the University of Sacramento - graduating in Business Administration.Â
Married Xavier Polk (you may remember him, he played football and other sports for Notre Dame). We are now divorced but remain friends.
Gave birth to three (3) children, Xavier Jr., he's now a financial planner for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company, (his wife Maureen is a pharmacist and they have two beautiful children, Caitlin and Marc). Janika, my middle child is an attorney; after being a partner at the oldest and largest law firm in New Orleans for the past five years, she recently (January of 2009) opened her own firm and my youngest, Patrick is a Junior at the University of New Orleans and will be graduating in Psychology. Recently he announced that he will further his education in medicine.
Once moving back to New Orleans, I enrolled at the University of New Orleans where I received a paralegal degree and private investigators certificate.
I have worked for the past 25+ years as a senior litigation paralegal attending rules hearings, depositions, mediations and trial...Expand for more
s with our attorney's and just prior to Katrina (February 2005) opened my own business (in addition to working at the law firm) "Legal Genie, LLC.
Legal Genie is a paralegal service for small law firms who cannot afford the luxury of a legal staff (legal secretary, paralegal, court runners, etc.). My company offers those services. We were going strong until Katrina hit, a lot of the small firms have not and may not return. But since I lost a lot of my staff, it evens out (little work fewer employees to pay).
After Katrina I was housed in Houston, Texas, taking care of my parents (they both have been in and out of the hospital since Katrina).Â
Our house (in New Orleans) was located near one of the leeves that broke. I live right off Ponchartrain Beach (at the lake front). Because we have a two story house we were fortunate, damages were only to the 1st level.Â
Once we returned to New Orleans we received a FEMA trailer, were we lived prior to repairs. I am happy to announce that as of December 2006 we are back in our home.
Recently I made my 2nd trip to Riverside within the last two years and it was really great being back there visiting with my in-laws. I'm planning to go back again soon. Â
That's the short version...
Take care and GOD be with you and yours,
Pam
