Pamela's Story
June 1st 2021. Well guess we all had a tumulteous 2020. While the world held its breath, not knowing what to do, we actually had a great year. My youngest son and his wife had their 2nd child, after a few heartbreaks, we finally got to build our own house, and move in, and we were able to continue work, with a few adjustments. We've been in our tiny house for 6 months now. All my kids are doing okay too. It may not be the best of circumstances, but with adjustments its all good. We now have 4 grandchildren. Family is slightly split up in geographical locations. But we have gotten together a few times. We missed our children and their children terribly. Felt connected thru facetime, zoom and phone. Not the same as grma reading and playing with them but like i said, with a few adjustments we get to be together virtually. Felt guilty at first, feeling such joy at having our own tiny house, but not anymore. We worked hard to get here, with lots of struggles. We're healthy, still making a living, so blessed in many ways. We love our house and brings us joy. Its simple, small and just right. We have had a joyful 2 years. Despite the Pandemic and shut down. We even celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversry. The exact day after my graduation party, my present from my parents was to go to school again. They signed me up for keypunching school. I went to school during the day, a...Expand for more
nd worked (internship) at night. I did that for 12 weeks. My dad said "I do believe that commputers will be the way of the future." At first I hated it but got pretty good at it and did it for a few years. Then got married, had babies, got divorced, got married again, had more babies, and now I have Grandchildren. Other stuff went on too. We moved to California, lived in the desert for 12 years, then came back to Michigan to get away from the hassles of the city and finish raising our kids. We moved to "up north." We raise animals, garden, and try to live off the land. Eventually we would like to be off the grid. That was 5 yrs. Ago. Now it is 2015. We live back in CA..where his aging parents are. They are doing well, we just want to be close. We farm still. Out in the desert. Never grow a Michigan garden in the desert. Took us a few yrs to understand that. We are better about all that now. My kids have all moved out here too, and in Vegas. Only 5 hr s away but everody is so busy, we only get together few times a yr. Miss them all so much. Love facetime, and Skype. Putting in a lot of fruit and nut trees. We hope in 5 yrs they will bring in an income. Still have the house in Michigan, but not sure what to do with it. I DO NOT miss the snow. But we raised our kids in that house. Such a good house and area. Love my home he really too. Wish I could be a "Snow-Bird."
