Pamela's Story

Life After high school, I attended Kean College, and also performed in a number of community musical theater productions in Westfield and Scotch Plains. At 19, I joined a top-forty band as their female vocalist. Another hobby was playing women's softball (slow-pitch, high-arc) really enjoyed turning double plays at second base, then, striking out my fair share of batters on the mound. It was great fun. Following a short-lived stint in Florida, I came back to Jersey with a fiance and got married at age 23. The next year, I became the proud mom of my beautiful daughter, Kimberly. During this time, I lost my dad to cancer. I have never quite managed to fully recover from this loss, for I totally idolized him. And I know that many of my dad's former students, soccer players and counselees from Roosevelt and Wilson Schools did, as well. Ten years after Kim, along came my terrific son, Daniel. At age 10, Danny (or D.J., as he prefers to be called) earned a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He went on to earn a second degree belt as well. DJ's real passion, however, is art, and he was inducted into the National Arts Honor Society in HS. He is currently pursuing a degree in game art at Full Sail University in Florida. I have worked in nursing homes and assisted living facilities as an Activity Director, where I specialized in the field of Alzheimer's Disease. I also became trained as a Diagnostic Ultrasound Technician, where I performed all phases of soft tissue studies, but, I especial...Expand for more
ly enjoyed doing the obstetrics cases. Some of you may remember that in HS, singing and performing were my biggest passions, and about 12 years ago, I started singing at local karaoke places, where I was fortunate enough to meet my husband, Michael. He is a systems programmer/manager in the software division for the mainframe of a large banking institution, and has been there for the past 30+ years. We got married 10 years ago this past June. We both are in singing groups. Mike has been with The RB Express, a Doowop/Oldies group, for about 7 years, and my group is called The Del Angels. We perform mostly the 60's Girl Group songs. Mike and I often sing together in the recording studio we have in our home, and I have also been entering a National singing contest in Nevada. I have been lucky enough to win first place in the women's over-50 category twice, took home the overall top female performer award one year, and won first place in Female Pop last year. Awhile back, I returned to college as an Education major, having always wanted to follow in my parents footsteps. I appeared in a number of stage productions there, and even tried my hand at directing. A few years ago, I also got to perform in an off-Broadway run of a musical called Romance.com. Now I spend my days taking care of my two grandchildren, and go out singing at night. I hope that all of my old friends from Westfield High have had equally fortunate lives, and I can't wait to see everyone at the next reunion!
