Pamela's Story
Life
I have 2 children , son and a daughter. Hard to believe I have been out of school so long.
I am the Information Services Manager for a large law firm downtown. I handled the daily network servers/wan/lan connectivity.
I currently live in Forney.
School
School, I am very different than I was in school. I was so shy and timid. Things my friends today wish I was. ha-ha
I missed out on a lot being so reserved and very little self confidence. This isn't the case anymore as some may say I have too much self-esteem.
Workplace
After working 12 years as a secretary, I moved into the Technology field. I was hired at Microsoft with no experience in MS Excel to work on their support line. I was hired due to my knowledge of Lotus 123. After 3 months intense training with Microsoft, I was placed on the help line to support MS Excel. Many times I thought I was in the ...Expand for more
wrong profession as the training was over my head and did not cover the application, but hardware among other things. After working on the support line for a while, I left Microsoft to work for a worldwide lawfirm. I began as the Help Desk for the law firm. After 3 years, I was promoted to the IS Manager position overseeing the Dallas office of 300+ users. I manage a crew of 6 people, and we support all aspects of Data and Telecommunications. I was chosen in 2002 out of all the IS Managers to travel to London and Brussels to migrate their offices to the Windows XP environment. This was a great priviledge and experience. The joke among many of my piers was the fact this hick, slang talking Texas woman would be in shock while the Europeans would not be able to understand me. I enjoy what I do, the constant change in the computer world, and working with the people I do.
