Pamela's Story
It's hard to write about three decades of life and keep it short. The past 30+ years have been colorful, for sure, filled with many events -- ones that overwhelmed me with happiness and others that were tragic. One thing I've learned is that, no matter what we've gone through, we should have no regrets because all that experience has made us who we are today ... and that is what's important ... moving forward, hopefully a little wiser. The most significant: I earned a degree from the Univ.of San Francisco; worked in the legal field for 21 years, 14 of those as a Legal Analyst for Sacramento's largest law firm, and then on my own as a litigation consultant. I was married from 1987 until 2006 and have two beautiful children, a daughter (26) and son (23) -- the best and MOST cherished accomplishments of my life! The most difficult year of my life was 2006. On February 12th, my brother Jimmy was killed. He was a passenger in a small plane that crashed. Not a day goes by when I don't think of him ... sometimes with smiles, others with tears. I still can't believe he's gone. Three months after my brother's death, my husband of 19 years decided he wanted to start his life over, and I was left alone with two teenagers. For the first two years, the kids kept me going and were my #1 priority. By early 2008 as they became more independent, I started dating (at age 50) which was scary -- it had been 24 years since I'd been in that kind of social setting. I met a wonderful man, David, and we share a loving relationship for which we both feel very fortunate -- so much so that we got married on June 20, 2009.
