Brian's Story

Its been a long road but am now looking at retirement.. I love what I do. Started with several jobs - Elmwood Casino, Chryslers from line to personnel, school at U of Windsor and Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, articled in Ottawa, practised in Windsor and Toronto and finally legal /financial consultant. Survived Windsor. Its been a great life. Travels to over 30 countries, sailing, gliding, skiing, who would have thought that life could be so challenging and rewarding. Children and grandchildren. Now live in Toronto with stints in Florida and England. Busy, happy, active, trying to finish a book, speaking engagements across US on finance, and looking to meet older and wiser friends and acquaintences for no other reason than to share a laugh or memory. Oct. 2016 Adding several things: Have my gliders licence and glide in Florida and occasionally in Ontario on the escarpment. Love it and takes the place of sailing. Calmness and control. Am now also certified as a scuba diver. Enjoy seeing manatees but haven't made it out into the wide open spaces of of the opens sea, since I don't relish being shark bait. Also, after having spent several years as consultant for the Federal Government on free trade, have given up on dealing with Marxists currently leading the parade. So, only have retirement to contend with.. Gotta have something to make life interesting, if only for a reason to continue getting a haircut. Cheers to all, friend or not so much a friend. Please write and if you're in Toronto area, please stop for coffee or a glass of wine. July, 2017 Now formally retired except for the occasional consultancy and blog. Trying to ...Expand for more
keep up with children and grandchildren. November 1, 2018 with lots of travel and activity since the last post. Just spent a couple of weeks in northern England visiting an ancient one and continuing with the family search. Back to 1580 in an orderly, disciplined manner, the only way. Surprised at the number of names introduced in various ways and the manner of deaths. I cant go any further in England because of roots in the German states and French Huguenots. My knowledge and ability will have to expand in these areas. Will not go onto commercial sites such as Ancestry.com, the Mormons site since this appears to introduce nefarious elements, especially with their search, acquisition and use of DNA samples. Whilst in Cumbria stayed 5 days at my favourite pub, Highland Drove Inn in Gt Salkeld. Genuine comfort and old English ales. Situate near the family church as well a Stonehedge like structure called Long Meg and her sisters. The cows do not enter the circle of rocks for some reason. Whilst there, also went gliding in the Eden Valley. I'm used to the bus like gliders available in Florida and on the Niagara Escarpment. These were serious gliders. Difference between a cab and a jet fighter. Magnificent on a crystal clear day over the Eden Valley with slight buffeting winds. I'll be in Florida for 2 months starting Jan 15. The house has 4 bedrooms, handy location and a private pool. Anyone want to come down, drop me a line. Vegas planned for April 2019. Think its about time for another Massey reunion in Windsor. To any who see this, drop me a line, tell me whats happening, and above all, regardless............... Cheers
