Pat's Story

Life My Spouse I was a bridesmaid at Ginny Hayes' wedding to Joe Zdanowicz. Joe's best man was Bob Wisniewski. It's a long funny story but we met married and will celebrate 35 years this summer. My Kids I consider my children my greatest accomplishment in life. Maribeth is 34. She is married to Bob Becker. They live in Norwalk, CT. They had a little girl, Amelia Mae, in July 2000. She is the joy of our life. Maribeth graduated w/ a statistics degree from Rutgers, worked for Kraft and is now a full-time mom. She is a fun person and always the organizer of parties. Colleen will be 30 in July, 2001. She graduated from Cook College w/ a degree in biology. She just returned from a 6 month trip to the South Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Hawaii. When not travelling, she works on Catalina Island teaching Marine Biology to school kids. She is in the water every day--snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, swimming, etc. It's a great life and she loves it. It doesn't pay well but she's having a great time. My Job It's very interesting because of the cases we work on. Mr. Kohn of Kohn Swift & Graf was considered the father of the class action law suit. I work w/ Bob Swift who ...Expand for more
won a lawsuit against the Estate of Ferdinand Marcos on behalf of 10,000 victims who were tortured, killed or who disappeared. The case was won but we are still awaiting the money from Imelda. We have also go on to get involved w/ Holocaust cases--trying to get Holocaust survivors' money from Swiss, German, Austrian banks, from Insurance Companies. We have sued companies who used victims as slave laborers. The cases are interesting because they are part of history. Because of them, Mr. Swift has become know as a Human Rights attorney. Life takes many twists and turns. I was diagnosed w/ endometrial cancer in December, 2006 & had a complete hysterectomy in January, 07. While doing pre-op testing, they found that I had kidney cancer. I had one kidney removed in May, 07. It has been a very stressful time, but I am doing well and just had a 6-month check-up and a clean bill-of-health. I thank God for my family and good friends who were there for me and who helped me get thru several stressful months. Prayer is a wonderful thing. It does help. I also have become a one-woman campaigner for all of us (especially women) to listen when our bodies speak to us. I did and it was the difference between life and death.
