Pat's Story

Most won't remember me as I was only there for two years before being sent off to Phoenix. Those who do will probably remember me as a "trouble maker, but really I was just terribly misunderstood. I always wanted to be a singer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a pipe dream idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I coulda been a contender, but I freaked out at the "big" audition. now I write books. I scared a girl in home ec by flpping my eyelids up, turning around and scaring the girl behind me. She fell back onto the floor and I got suspended. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have privacy, a fast computer, and a window to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Moved to Chicago to leave and start over. It was a very good idea! Dog lover (Australian Shepherds); reader, writer, perptual student. Just enrolled in a writing program. Nothing much changes generation to generation. My kids have put me through a ringer but not nearly what I did to my mother. I did a good job! If I won $100 million, I'd give a lot of it to people worse off than me...Expand for more
, then spend the rest on building my utopian vision, isolation and luxury.. My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be "old". I was so completely right -- about other people.. not me!. My best friend would tell you I'm generous, brilliant and talented, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as arrogant. I share my home with my husband and my 22 year old daughter, which I find alternately fun and intolerable. Son (26) is on his own and close to getting married. Daughter has been a challenge, but she's on her way to law school in the fall (fingers crossed). In 10 years, I hope to be a published writer and teaching writing. I'm going to get there by finishing my "masterpiece" and taking as many classes as I can manage for the next three years.. My husband is my oldest (living) friend. Other friends, I've lost touch with. We met at a Pink Floyd concert in 1977. He is 8 years younger. 'nuff said. My first job was at Burger Boy, where I got paid pennies to sell food. What I remember most about it is I got fired!
