Pat's Story
Career: Spent 22 years in the Air Force; 12 working on B-52s (bombers), 5 working on KC-135s (tankers) and the last 5 teaching leadership and management. Was stationed (lived) in GA, LA, ND and AL; visited (temporary duty) ME, NJ, NC, SC, FL, MS, AR, CO, UT, NM, CA, Guam, Panama, Azores, England and Saudi Arabia. After retiring from the AF, bounced around for a few years trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up; tried my hand at being a Financial Advisor, worked at a bank among others. Then went to work for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. Enjoyed it greatly, but got an offer to do basically the same job for more money with the Federal Government, so now I work for Dept. of Homeland Security-Inspector General. I audit Katrina funds; not individuals, but the State of MS, counties, cities, etc. Ensuring they spent the money correctly and followed the rules and regulations.
Family: A few years after graduating married Laura Weisert (class of '81). We divorced nine years later, no children, just four dogs. Shortly after she and I split up I met and marrie...Expand for more
d Jacqueline. Met at Barksdale AFB, she worked on base. She had two children, I adopted them a few years later and they are both grown and on their own. We also have two girls, both born in North Dakota (Nodaks). They are 12 and 10. We have two pets, a cat and a German Shepherd. The dog wants to mother the cat, but the cat wants the 80lb monster to leave her alone...gets interesting sometimes.
School: Went to Ga Tech for two quarters. For some odd reason, they expected me to complete homework assignments. They had the nerve to give me F's. Well I taught them, I stopped going to my classes; then they had the audacity to kick me out. I was shocked! That was when I joined the AF. While in ND, I went to night classes and earned my B.S. Then after moving to AL, I earned my MBA through an online program.
That's the abbreviated version of my life; lots of adventures like my wife and daughter riding on Bob Dylan's jet, -65 windchills, camel spiders and scorpions as big as my hand, flying in B-52s and owning nuclear weapons are too long of stories for here.
