Pat's Story

I left Narbonne, got a BA in English at UCLA, did two years graduate work at Stanford and taught Freshman English there, then accepted a ride on a single-engine plane (Bonanza) to New York City, where for eight years I worked in book publishing. After the birth of my daughter, Romy, I became a freelance writer-editor, so I could work at home -- and eventually moved to Washington,D.C., where I wrote freelance for the Washington Post, wrote executive summaries and edited reports for the World Bank and similar organizations, and published a couple of books. nization, the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD (the nation's chief research hospital and clinic), the dept of psychiatry at the University of Maryland, and Crown Equipment (which makes the BMW of lift trucks). I've been lucky. Curiosity is what drives me and being a writer and editor has allowed me to satisfy my curiosity about a lot of subjects--most recently health and medical subjects. You can find samples of writing by googling my name, as well as the name of one of my books (DYING: A BOOK OF COMFORT), which I have built a supplementary website for. I totally enjoyed last year's reunion and hope to make many more of them. Sundays I dance at Glen Echo, in the Spanish Ballroom.
