Pat's Story
Hi everyone -
A big salute to all of our men and women in uniform! God bless them.
--- History 101 ---
Grade School Years:
Spent the first 7.25 yrs. (1960 - 1967) attending school at
St. Barbara's in Brookfield, IL. In October of 1967, after conferring with my 8th grade teacher, my parents decided it
was in my best interest to transfer me to the public school system. Suffice it to say I was not a happy camper... however...it did teach me that there is nothing in life more constant than change and the change was good.
Spent 4 yrs attending high school at Lyons Township in La Grange, Illinois. Followed that with a stint in the military and college at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. Finished graduate school at De Paul University ... the basketball was good then : )
Military
Started with the Air Force in 1972. Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX then on to Tech. School at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Ms.
Served enlisted for 10 years then earned my commission at the Academy of Military Science, I. G. Brown Professional Military Education Center located at McGhee-Tys...Expand for more
on ANG Base, Knoxville, TN. After commissioning I attended undergraduate navigator training at Mather AFB, CA. The last 15 years of my military career found me travelling to some of the most interesting places in the world. Retired from the Illinois ANG in 1997 with 25 years of service.
Civilian career was by and large at General Motors, Rockwell International and Motorola. I retired at the end of 2013
after 42 years in the electric / electronic industry.
Family
Daughter was born in 1977 and graduated from LTHS in 1995.
She is a 1999 U of I alum and wed in 2006. She finished her grad work at NU in 2008.
She and her husband have one child.
Son was born in 1991 (war baby following return home from first Desert Storm). He graduated HS from Downers Grove North HS in 2010. He graduated from the University of TN, Knoxville in May, 2015. He is a Vol for Life.
Am currently retired and enjoy flying twice a week while in pursuit of my private pilot certification.
My dream is to retire to someplace where snow shovels are not required - ever! (hey it's a dream)
