Patrice's Story
Born in Aruba in the fifties,I grew up with a very active and fun lifestyle.
The eldest of four, I was the first to leave home for my education in the USA in 1969. In Aruba our schooling was taught in the official language, Dutch. My sister Denise, followed me in 1970, and then Janice and my brother John Eloy came in 1972 and 1976. After College all three returned to Aruba, married and raised (still raising) their family. I remained in the USA, first working in Maryland,D.C., Baltimore, and then Charlotte, NC. We travel to Aruba on an annual basis, and thus, I have always said, I have the best of both world.
In 1969 I enrolled at School of Holy Child Jesus in Suffern, New York, where I made life long friendships. I remember all of trips to NYC as well as walking to the three miles to the mall. Walking to the village of Suffern was another activity we all looked forward to getting out of school. In 1971 I graduated from Holy Child, Suffern, which is also the same year the school closed for good.
After Highschool I went to Baltimore, to Loyola College and studied spanish until I realized that I could not teach. y with all the action and accepted a job at American Security Bank, N.A. in Washington DC. This was the beginning of my 25 yrs in Banking. From DC, I moved to Baltimore, due to a merger with Maryland National. In 1994 NationsBank in Charlotte, NC bought Maryland National and the family moved to Charlotte.
My husband Ed, I met while at Loyola College. We dated from my Junior year in College, until 1982 at which time we Wed in a most memorable marriage in Aruba! We had over 50 family and friends join us in Aruba for a week of wedding celebrations. In 1983 we had our first child, Edward, followed by Elizabeth in 1987. Both are grown and fine your adults. Both are still completing their education.
We lived in Shipleys Choice, MIllersville, MD from 1982 until 1993, and then moved to Matthews, NC on December 39th, 1993. Along the way we have met and continue to stay in touch with many friends.
After 25 yrs, as a tax planner, manager for my banking career, I retired from Bank of America and bought my own independently owned Decorating Den Franchise. For the past five years I have been fortuned enough to work with the most fascinating families helping them create their dream environment. I am very fortunate having a great family in Aruba, and now with my two children and husband.
