Patricia's Story
Life
Life has been crazy for me. 3 married children, 1 boy and 2 girls. My son, Matthew, has been busy at life, still trying to get the job of his dreams. His sister Kris was in the Olympics in Atlanta, now has 5 children, Colin 9, Liam 8, Grace 5 and Meghan 4. and Brigid 2. She is now coaching the Olympic Team and married to a West Point grad. Catherine got married last July and is working towards opening her own business in Boston. However she and her (Ireland born) husband are living in Houston Tx. She also spent 3 yrs in the Navy. I work full time as a nurse, Editor of our Locals news letter, Eucharistic minister for our church, watch my 4 grandchildren when their mother is coaching, and numerous other projects always going on. Retirement is starting to look very good to me. I am actively working on getting the crooks out of the medical field so the patients gain by the income generated and not the foreigners who are pocketing millions illegally on medicare/medicaid etc. scams. I was told by one of my supervisors "Pat, you can't change the world by yourself". Well I am certainly going to try and hope others jump on the bandwagon to accomplish this. ost WW II. People went out of their way to help their neighbors. I want to see this return instead of the aggressive, hostel or just turning their back attitude which has evolved. In 2005 I became active in NJ politics working with Gov.Jon Corzine,Sen. Loretta Weinberg, John Kerry and also Ted Kennedy. God bless and keep praying.
School
After high school [St.Marys Villa] I went to st Josephs Hosp. and worked there as an LPN while going on to St Vincents Hosp to get my RN. Since then I've been nsg. and loving it till lately when pt care changed to big business. I prim. work critical care but mostly ER for 36 yrs. Recently I switched to Psychiatry at BRMC .When not in the hosp. I enjoy working with physically and mentally challanged children.
It has also been rewarding becoming very politically active with trying to bring back the care and attention patients should be getting. Privatizing hospitals was a big mistake because now people are making millions of dollars off peoples illnesses.
This week, June 27th I will be going to a nursing conf. in Durban South Africa, the first week will consist of many meetings. The second I will be going on Safari with my sister Karen. We will return on July 9th,2009
