Patricia's Story
Currently still living in Chesapeake Beach. Still working at the Ronald Reagan Bilding and International Trade Center on Pennsylvania Ave. Plan to retire next year then be at home relaxing and shedding soft crabs, maybe.
Workplace
After graduation, I worked at the PG Co. Courthouse for the State's Atty office. Met my husband while he was in the Army through a co-worker and her husband and married in May '68 before he left for Vietnam. After he was released from Walter Reed Hosp., we moved to Ft. Riley (KS) for a year. I didn't work, but cared for our daughter. Then to Ft. Bragg (NC) where I worked for an accountant during the day then Steve and I worked at a local nightclub until he exited the service and we moved to Los Angeles, CA. I typed legal work at home while caring for our daughter and son until I worked fulltime for a manufacturer of disc drives and tape decks. In 1975 we moved back to MD and I worked for Filterite Corp. e moved back to the "Beach" in 1976 where I sold Home Interior for 4 years while working parttime some of those years at Rod & Reel and Stinnett's in their office. Quit all that and worked for Benedict Estuarine Research Lab which later moved to Patterson's Park. Before it moved, I quit and worked in Capitol Heights for a truck dealership. While laid off due to slow business and eventually closing, I found a job where my daughter worked at NAPWA (Nat'l Assoc of People w/Aids) in DC for two and one-half years. I then got an offer at the Ronald Reagan Building and Int'l Trade Center as a contractor working on the security contracts. After 2 years, I became a GSA employee with the Federal Gov't where I am working today for the Director of the building. Whew! Think that's it! It's been interesting to work more places than one and especially in different locations, but glad to have my feet in the ground now and working for the government.
