Patricia's Story
I fulfilled my dream of living at the coast and digging clams just outside my front door during 2009--the best clamming season in about 20 years!!! I am sure that God did it just for me!
And Seaside, Oregon? There ought to be a disclaimer under the "Welcome to Seaside" sign that says "Be sure to check with your local police before befriending any of the locals." Did I ever get an education! I was literally rescued from the clutches of that town by my former Montana roommate that came to live with me in Seaside. I am still wondering why everyone else can see the "sucker" pasted across my forehead. It is invisible to me!
Back in Portland, I was fortunate enough to find a place to live in spite of my pet! Even with three references and Renter's isurance, many prospective pet-friendly homes have Rottweilers on their restricted breed list. I finally was blessed with a landlord that has a dog, too, and was not concerned about Dojah at all.
For now, I'm hanging out (with the same protective roommate), looking for part-time, self-directed work that is not too stressful. In August, I finally came out of the darkness after my son's death 6 years ago. I am not at all sure that I have a mental health diagnosis at all anymore. Grief is a somber, paralyzing event. Now that I know I am going to live, my perspective has changed a ...Expand for more
great deal.
Will I lose my SSD now that my diagnosis may be nn-existent? Nope, probably not! I was awarded my SSD on the basis of my Program Manager and Operation Supervisor's dishonesty at Mid-County Health Clinic where I was part of the Administrative team. My personnel record was perfect when I lost my job. It was that "private Manager's file" that got sent to the county-paid Forensic Psychologist that forced me out of 13 years with the county.
When MCHD management documents dishonesty to vacate a position, it works. My boss had carefully documented events that did not take place. Even though an employee signature is requred on all performance evaluations, reprimands, etc., before being put in a personnel file, management can put whatever they want in their private manager's file without a signature and no one doubts it.
I trusted my Union Representatve--even though my protective roommate kept telling me to get an attorney--and I was toast. So, to get me healthier, I gave up the battle after the Bureau of Labor and Industries told me that just because my boss didn't like me does not mean they discriminated against me! I have faith that what the County, Union, and BOLI sowed, they shall also reap. I just wanted to end the fight and get on with my life!
After 13 moves in 8 years, who wouldn't be a little off?
