Patricia's Story
Hello, former classmates of 1971. You will not find me in the senior yearbook nor did I get to walk in graduating class of 1971, due to having to take government in summer school of 1971. I had a choice to receive my diploma from Toccoa High School (where I had been in school from first grade thru 1970-71). What many did not know was that I had several back surgeries due to a spinal cyst and had to miss class time in high school and got behind due to this. I have a Toccoa High School Diploma, class of 1971, and authenticated letter stating why I did not get to walk or graduate with the class. It is on file in the Stephens County School System. Anyway, after high school, I went to work as a CNA in the nursing home and hospital. I continued to further my education by obtaining my LPN license, RN license, BSN program and Master's in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner certification. lmost 42 years, this December. I have two daughters; the oldest, Stephanie is a school psychologist, married to Jimmie Blanton and they have my only 4 year old grandson, Dakota, living in Fayetteville, Ga. My youngest daughter, Heather (26), lives alone with her cat in Jacksonville, Florida and is a district sales leader for Frito-Lay. I am now retired due to my diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease in 2010, but you may still see me around town. Fortunately, I am still mobile and do my best to stay that way. Please support Parkinson's Disease research. It can affect younger and older people (and those in between). I am glad to have found this website so I could update everyone. I have some good memories of high school and feel that Toccoa High gave me the foundation to succeed in life, if I chose to. Hope everyone else found their path and succeeded goals, also. I went to the very first reunion, got the t-shirt, but haven't been to anymore. Maybe I will be able go to another one in the future. My story--Patricia (Patsy Cole) Dooley
