Patricia's Story
Life
I've essentially lived in the DC area since graduation except for 5 years when I lived in Columbus, Ohio (1992 - 1997). I moved to Glenn Dale, Md. in 2002 with my father (83). I moved back to the area to care for him. We live here with my cat, Pooky, and no children but all is well.
Workplace
I started out becoming a jack of all trades and master of none. Working my way through college, I did a little of everything... short order cook (lasted three days), office cleaner...(more my type) to office work. After gradua...Expand for more
ting with a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology, I was equipped to find a job doing "nothing". So I did clerical work mostly. Then in 1984, I had an epiphany. I realized I should become a teacher. Having no education credits, it was back to school for me... and the rest is history. I've been teaching now for 20 years... wishing I had started earlier because people my age who went into teaching immediately after undergrad are now ready to retire! I wish. I have at least 10 more years to go and with "today's kids", it ain't easy.
