Patricia's Story
Patricia Jackson Retired Chair/Professor of the Business Department at the American Indian College (AIC) in Phoenix, Arizona. Her experience ranges from daily and long term operations of this department, to strategic reorganization of the business program. In addition, taught Business, Management, and Technology classes.
She has served as Business Professor teaching: English, Psychology, and College Success Skills at the Community College of Rhode Island, and American Indian College.
- Facilitated seminars on legal, ethical, and regulatory business issues; and created curriculum syllabi.
- Provided counseling, and student orientations.
- Developed Community Policy Workshops for the State of Rhode Island legislators.
- As Director of Community Services at the Women’s Center of Rhode Island, provided career workshops, staff development, and supervised 5 employees, and 4 college interns. Focus was on education of the community and prevention of domestic violence in schools, universities, corporations, community organizations, and law enforcement.
- Supervised court advocates in District Court, managed Community Partnership Teams, and trained RI Law Enforcement.
Educational accomplishments include:
- BS Degree in Organizational Psychology at Cambridge College
- M.B.A in Global Business Management and Organizational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University Graduate School.

- Studied Doctorate of Higher Education Administration at the University of Phoenix.
Accomplishments encompass:
- Organizer and recipient of the first Annual Tribute to Women of Color Who Have made a Difference (2002) at the RI State House of Representatives.
- Organizer of the first Black & Brown Alliance Summit, a minority community workshop on economic development, health, and employment.
- Established the first Providence and Vicinity National Association of Negro Business and Professional Womens Club, Inc in Rhode Island. As Founding President, focus was on community service of African-American professional, and businesswomen to enhance the community.
- Legislative Policy Liaison, speaking before the State Senate to improve conditions for victims of domestic violence.
- A member of the Board of Directors Governance Committee for United Way.
Honors/Awards:
- Received eight citizen commendations from government leaders, as well as a United States Congressional honor for work in community service with African American, Latino, Native American, and Asian communities.
- Recipient of the Woman of Strength award (2004), and Diversity award (2005) from Johnson & Wales University.
- Recipient of the Community Service award for establishing a collaboration between the Big Brothers of RI and the Womens Center of RI (2003).
