Patricia's Story

Life I have been married to David Hitt (class of 59) since right after graduation. We are retired and live on Lake Livingston near the tiny town of Coldspring. From 1972 - 2001 I lived in Beaumont - where I had several careers that included 11 years with Buckner (yes, just like in Dallas). After moving up here I ran a mental health clinic for 4 years. Last job was Junior High School Counselor. I have returned to an earlier "occupation" - making pottery. Also like riding jetski. Recently bought a new jetski- a Yamaha with one of those water spouts behind. Had to get it as the old one cratered! Also recently got a Toyota Tundra. Awesome, but guzzles the gas. Have two super kids and two super grandchildren. David William will graduate this year and probably head for Texas Tech. We are enjoying a good bit of traveling and just loving life in general. In 2006 we visited Canada and Thailand. So far in 2007 we've been to Florida, Mexico Copper Canyon,Colorado, and just got back from a Sternwheeler cruise on the Columbia River in Oregon. We had never been up there. Had a great Christmas with the grandkids. Grandson David (17) is now over 6'3 and Victoria finally cracked 5'2. Both kids were "district champs" - David in Varsity Soccer and Vic in 9th grade tennis. January 2008 took Dave on a guy trip with friend Dale back to Thailand where he learned alot about Thai massage along with sightseeing in Chiang Mai and Cambodia. We went getting ready to Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Tequis Mexico and saw a few other little pla...Expand for more
ces along the way. In September Ike flew over us and tore up the Marina, ending watersports for the year. Dave's "49 and holding" reunion was held in Granbury in October. The committee did a great job - they hadn't had a reuntion in 25 years. Funny thing everyone seemed so normal, but when we got the pictures back I couldn't figure out who those "old people" were! Our much-loved cat died in December, freeing us of all home responsibilities. In 2009 so far we have made 2 trips to Mexico - one to see the ancient ruins from Mexico City to Cancun and the second to spend 5.5 weeks "housesitting" in San Miguel de Allende. Believe me, that was a GREAT vacation. Had a maid and a gardner and main responsibility was caring for 2 very nice dogs. Didn't even have to walk them thanks to the roof. San Miguel is truly beautiful and I would recommend anyone seeing it before forming any opinion about Mexico. So many places to go and not enough time to see them all. We just got a new kitten. He started out at "Tadpole" but has grown some and is now just "Tad". This is a hot, dry summer. Somedays not even jetskiing is enjoyable. Heat finally broke! End of 2009 and beginning of 2010 brought us our coldest winter in about 20 years and I'm loving it! Dave is really busy right now and he/we are doing alot of traveling. I went with my daughter to Westminster dog show in February. We have been to Albuquerque, Dallas, and head to Costa Rica for a vacation March 9. After that back to Albuquerque. Love the Indian pottery there. Time is still flying by.
