Patricia's Story

I hope old classmates will remember me as a nice person. After high school I graduated from Mountain State Business College - 1971 Moved to Washington, DC and worked for the USGAO. Moved to Hamilton, OH then back to New Martinsville, WV. Then moved with the US Army Corps of Engineers to Iuka, MS, continued my education in civil engineering and worked on construction of the Tenn-Tom Wway administering construction contracts. After retirement became a stay at home mom enjoying the teen years with my son in sports and drag racing. Returned to the working field in 2003 working for a State Farm Agent as licensed staff specializing in insurance and financial services. Have been married for 33 years to Johnny Robinson. I always wanted to be a beautician when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turned out I never pursued it but sometimes I wish this is what I had done. I rarely get angry about anything. I love to relax on the lake or riding horses. I guess my hero in life would be my Lord Jesus Christ. I am inspired by folks that make things happen by overcoming obstacles achieving their goals. I like baseball and watching football. I love Terry Bradshaw and Brett Favre. I follow drag racing cause that is what the guys in my life do. I do not like reality tv because it truly is not reality. Pets...I love horses and dogs. I have Yorkies and a Rott and a quarter horse. My obsession...mmm I guess my family and my church which is what I do the most. Life's surprises. Didn't turn out anything like I thought it would. Never thought I would be doing the kind of work I do. From administrative to construction to insurance. How do you get that out of wanting to be a beautician? Go figure. Now, I think I would like to have gone into ministry a missionary or something along that line. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the deck and add on a pool. My dream home would be one story and smaller. I have learned from my son to be kinder. He is a very considerate and kind person. I can't think of one teacher I would like to see again. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to the Lord's work, then spend the rest on getting out of debt, travel and retirement. Never lived in a dorm. Was in a soriety in college. I loved college life, should have studied more and loved the friends I made there. I would be in the Lord's service somewhere with other likeminded Christians. My current age ...Expand for more
is 58. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be nearly dead. I was so completely right...just kidding. My first crush was when I was in the sixth grade. Dad was in the military and we were living in Florida. His name was Calvin 'Butch' Stark. His family was from Maine. So really have no idea what ever happened to him. I probably dress about the same as 10 to 20 years ago. Enjoy being stylish to some extent but am conservative in my dress however I still like my denim. For me the weirdest job I ever had was taking soundings on the Tennessee River, demolition of an old lock wall and measuring paint thickness. I share my home with three dogs in the house and one outside, which I find comfortable. Once I wanted to try to show in 'Western Pleasure'. My first show and first time I had been on that horse and I won!!! I was not good..the horse was. Also got a couple trophies bowling in college. However, I have a trophy case full of 'wallies' my son has won at points meets and national events drag racing. He was also the 2003 Super Gas World Champion. Lets see I get One do-over..what would it be..I guess be myself instead of trying to be what someone else expected me to be. In 10 years, I hope to be enjoying my grandchildren. I'm going to get there by praying I have grandchildren and stay healthy. My oldest friend?? Gosh I have so many. I guess Sherry would be my oldest closes friend I met through drag racing. Her husband and mine raced and we spent alot of time traveling and shopping together and raising our kids together. My other oldest friends are Christians and we are like minded. What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? Gosh I really don't know. I only went to school there three years. My folks were so strict and I had no self confidence. I really don't know what they thought of me so don't know that I could surprise them...except by showing up. My first job was babysitting, where I got paid 50 cents an our to take care of children and clean house all day. What I remember most about it is it was boring on long summer days when everyone else was at the pool. I was first employed at the Red Gable in New Martinsville making 75 cents an hour waiting on people and cleaning up. It was hard work cleaning up. A favorite childhood memory..I remember when we lived on Patrick Air Force Base in Florida every afternoon when we got in from school dad would take us to the beach in his jeep.
