Patricia's Story
Life
I have been married twice. First time to Jack Primmer a month after graduation. We were married for 18 years and had 6 sons.
I think all Jack's nieces and nephew graduated from
Bishop too. They are Debbie, Jeff, Nancy and Judy Maas
I married my 2nd husband in 1982 and had my 7th son in
1983. You were all probably having grandkids by then.
I have lived in CA, NV, UT, CO, MN and now IA. I was
widowed in 1995 and have been single since.
I just recently moved to Des Moines area and have started
as a receptionist in West Des Moines. Three of my sons
are living in the area and one is in IN, so it seemed a
logical choice to move here.
I have been a keno writer, keno runner, 21 dealer, store
manager, receptionist, waitress, motel manager, customer
service rep, drove tractor on a sod farm, was a stock
room person, an Avon lady and even sold Fingerhut. I also worked with a temp agency or two.. you name it... I have led
a very interesting life I think. My only regret being that
my husband died much too young..
I did not make it to our reunion in 1983 because I was living in
MN then and expecting my 7th son. Didn't make it to the one
1993 even though I was living in Hawthorne, NV then, because I
was still on probation with the dispatcher job and could not
get time off.
I have kept in touch with a few of my friends from Bishop, but
lost contact with Betty Hy...Expand for more
zer Cox not long after she had her
first son Joe Dean. I would like to find her again.
We were very lucky to have gone to school in such an innocent
time and place as we did. Having kids graduating from 1982
through 2001, I really saw a lot of changes.
One of the biggest changes was when teachers started saying it
was not as important whether words were spelled correctly or not,
let them exprss themselves... don't damage their sense of self
worth by telling them they did not spell a word right...
My favorite teacher at BUHS was Mr Ralph Johnson. I remember
the first day of Freshman English. He stuttered so much, we
were all embarrassed for him. After having had him for 4 years
of English, I honestly do not recall except a few instances of his
stuttering. He was such a good teacher and motivator. We had
many, many good and caring teachers.
I also had 4 years of Spanish. It has been more than 40 years
since we graduated and I am amazed at how many Spanish words I
can remember. I know if I was lost in Mexico I could at least
get my message across. Ironicly, when I managed the motel in
Tahoe and had so many Mexican maids I did have to learn lots more
Spanish... things like towels, under the bed, toilet, do not
disturb. I am afraid my maids had many laughs at my expense, but
they were a good bunch and it was all good natured kidding.
