Patricia's Story

Having spent most of my adult life in San Diego County, I've chosen this climate and lifestyle over many states where I have lived for a year or four! That happens when you have four kids to follow around! I spent 97-2001 in Meridian, MS helping my daughter Brenda with her 4 girls while she got her RN degree. Then we all moved to the beautiful Florida Panhandle, Destin, where I stayed another 4 years, and then returned to CA the day after Katrina hit! Being a climate hostage is not how I want to spend my "Golden Years"....or any more years. Daughter is still there with her four girls and now my five great grand daughters! My oldest daughter Teri and her husband, James, have been married since 1977 and live near me. They are members of the deaf community and that situation has enriched all of our lives. My son Scot lives in Los Angeles and is a toy designer for Mattel, getting even for all of those Big Wheels & Barbie's I bought. Beautiful daughter Nicki passed away in 1997 at age 38 in Carlsbad, CA. Her ashes are on Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad, CA, as mine will be someday. Their dad is in AWOL to fatherhood. ationed in Bettandorff, Iowa, recruiting duty for 3 years and she will never want to live in my contry now! Don't understimate the powers of an enlisted wife with friends in D.C.! I tried remarrying, it's fun for a while. But now I just love living alone, or almost. My puppy cat, Ponci, is now sweet 16 and has crossed country with me a few times! I am almost retired but there's not enough money in it, so I am a Realtor. Got my General Building Contractor's license in 1977 and built a few hundred customs out here. Great job for a woman! All my birth family members have preceded me in death, my brother's daughter is the only other surviving relative. I have always been proud of the super education we got at MHS, we had great standards to uphold! It has paid off in my life and probably every other alumni's! I miss my Pat Barto, we planned from the first grade to spend 2000 New Year's together but she just couldn't get that far, I love you Pat! Thanks for calling me that day, Earl! Who could believe now, that Pat was refused entrance to Bloomsburg STC in 1955 when we went there together to register because she was crippled! That day changed the direction of both of our lives!
