Patricia's Story
In November of 1966 I married Larry Galyardt and we had 3 children. After a very rocky 15 years we divorced. In 1990, after dating for over 9 years I married my "warrior" Jack Connell. Jack was a Navy attack pilot, who was also a Vietnam vet. Some guys take a while to get used to. We are still happily married.
After working for defense contractors and businesses in Ridgecrest for 8 years I went to work for the Navy at China Lake. I had a wonderful 33 years working, traveling and basically being able to create my own professional path. ivision. Along the way, I managed to get a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
After I retired I was asked to be on the Board of Directors of the China Lake Museum Foundation.
Also after retiring I was asked to be a campaign manager in the Indian Wells and Kern River valleys for the then hopeful candidate for 1st District Supervisor, Mick Gleason (thus ending my retirement).
Mick won and asked if I would come to work for him as a Field Representative, which I agreed to do, but "only part time". Hah!! Both of us were extremely clueless about the job. I do put in 20 hours a week in my Lake Isabella office. I usually put in about another 15-20 hours a week on email and morning meetings and evening and weekend meetings and events.
I will be attempting to retire again. Wish me luck.
