Patricia's Story
Hi everyone!!
A little background information:
After high school, I went to college at Fordham and then on to New York Law School. I've been a lawyer since 1985. I married Dave Martin (also Class of '78 at BRHS) in 1988 and we have 3 daughters, Meredith, age 18 (senior in HS). Alyssa, age 15 (freshman in HS) and Jillian, age 9 (4th grade). I live in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and my office is in Hackensack. Dave is a computer programmer with the Bergen County Prosecutor's office. He went to Fairleigh for his Bachelor's degree in Economics and has 2 Master's Degrees---one is from NJIT in Managment of Information Systems and one is from Iona College in Telecommunications.
Since 2003, I've been through some difficult times---major illnesses, 2 brain surgeries, onset of bipolar disorder due to misdiagnosis ,death of my Dad in March,2008 and as I sit typing this I am almost fully recuperated from a broken right ankle, right wrist and right hand. Need to do...Expand for more
more physical therapy---but who has the time???
And, it's been tough on my girls at times........rough roads, rocky places, twists and turns, mountains and valleys.....Life just never turns out the way that you expect it, huh? And, the next curve ball can appear just around the corner when you think that thinks are going ok.... God definitely has a sense of humor, and I find that I have to have one, too, just to keep up with Him!!
I guess I have learned that faith, family and friends are the most important things in life----and that faith in God and trust in Him to shine a light for my path will always guide me in the right direction.
Since no one is spared trials and tribulatons, I expect that many of you have similar stories.
Had a wonderful time at the 30th reunion seeing so many old friends and catching up. The night seemed to be over just as soon as it began. Dave was so sorry that he couldn't be there---next time...... Blessings to all, Pat
