Patricia's Story

Life Dear Classmates, After graduation, I received my education to become a registered nurse. I met my present husband in 1968 after he returned from his tour of duty in the army. He was sitting in a Corvette on Liberty Ave, downtown Pittsburgh, waiting for a male friend of mine who was to audition for his band. I was in my brand new Pontiac Firebird. It was love at first sight. We saw each other everyday for at least 4 months. Prior to going in the service, he played drums for Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners. Money is short on a musician's pay, so he went to school and received a degree in Computer Science. I worked in the recovery room at Shadyside Hospital, where I had my own apartment. We got married, had 2 children, a girl and a boy. We also have 2 grandchildren, ages 5 and 2. I worked at Sothside Hospital after my children started school, and my husband worked at Equibank in their systems dept. I lived in a lovely old colonial home on Hornaday Rd in the southern part of Pittsburgh. The last winter we spent in Pittsburgh was so cold, we packed up and moved to Tampa Florida, where my husband's previous boss from Equibank was the CEO. I thought I died and went to heaven when I got off the plane, The sun was so brilliant, like I had never experienced. I got a job as a hospital supervisor, and bought a new house. Banks in the 80's were merging, so we were transferred to Orlando, which was a great place to live. Always something to do. I went back to school to learn Critical Care Nursing, and soon was over the dept. 2 years later we are moved to Marietta Ga, north of Atlanta, where this ol girl from Port Vue buys this mansion. My husband was driving to Atlanta everyday. He was a V/P. I got a job as an IV nurse infusionist, and my children went to high school and college while we lived there. They are both married, not living far from me. When the year 2000 computer problem started in 1998, my husband had an oppurtunity of a lifetime for big buck...Expand for more
s. He got an offer in Newport Beach, California. He took the job and went by himself for 2 years. I continued to work, but the company he contracted with paid for my flights to California twice a month, staying a week at a time. Returning home in Jan of 2001, the same company wanted to hire him as a director, quite a high position for a guy from Southside of Pgh. We sold everything we owned and headed west on I 40. Traveled to Las Vegas , San Diego, Grand Canyon etc on weekends. We also bought a house on the golf course with a pool in Arizona to retire to when we were ready. Only in 2002, my daughter has a baby and then 2006 another one. Now in our late 50's, we decided to retire and change our lifestyle. We bought 5 acres of land in Alabama a farmhose(gutted it and renovated it) complete with barn and picket fence. I have 3 cats and a dog. We have an RV to travel in once in a while, and enjoy our grandkids. Bill still plays drums in Hilton Head periodically at a jazz club, and 2 x a month at Choo Choo's Barbeque ( country music). We pretty much go everywhere together. He is called "Mr. Cocktail Party Personality"(although he doesn't drink)and I have not changed, except I don't smoke . I still am a kind, helpful, stubborn , moody, and opinionated person. I don't look at all like my high school days. I have light brown hair with lots of blonde highlights, I am thinner than I ever was since 6th grade.I can afford nice clothes, not hand me downs(Ha HA) Mr. Doehla was my favorite teacher of all time, of which I read where he died very recently. My brother I live in Jacksonville, Alabama. I still go to the Catholic Church. I remember more about age 3 to 18 than I do about the rest of my life. I love Doo Wop music more than anything, and I hope one time to attend a high school reunion one day. All the houses, money, fancy stuff , traveling meant very little to me. My family and friends , my spritual development, and being peaceful inside is most important .
